Frequently asked questions

Why does the word count say 1 for a Japanese sentence?

Because Japanese does not put spaces between words. A whitespace-based count is the only one that can be made without a dictionary, so it is reported honestly rather than guessed at; for Japanese the character counts are the meaningful numbers.
