About Japanese Language Tools

What is this site?

Japanese Language Tools is a collection of free, browser-based utilities for reading, writing, and studying Japanese. Every tool runs instantly, requires no account, and has no usage limits.

Why we built it

Learners, translators, and developers working with Japanese text constantly need small conversions — adding furigana to unfamiliar kanji, switching between kana scripts, transliterating to romaji, or counting characters for a form limit. Existing options are often ad-heavy, slow, or split across many sites. We wanted one fast, clean, privacy-respecting place for all of them.

Roadmap

The following tools are under active development:

  • Japanese OCR (Image to Text)Extract Japanese text from images, screenshots, and photos using OCR.
  • Kanji Stroke Order DiagramsSee the correct stroke order for any kanji with animated diagrams.
  • Japanese Name Meaning LookupDiscover the meaning, readings, and kanji behind Japanese names.

Further ahead we plan a JLPT dictionary, verb conjugation, typing practice, and a public API.

Privacy first

Text you convert is processed on the fly and never stored. Read the full Privacy Policy for details.
